"I grew up in an oral program at school and felt like I never really fit in. I am hard of hearing and can hear and speak pretty well. My teachers always treated me like I was just one of the other students. The problem was that I sometimes pretended like I understood what was going on when I really didn't. When I moved to the residential Deaf school I learned about other ways to communicate, how I could use technology to help me succeed, and that it is ok to ask for what I need. Using technology in the classroom is really helpful for me.'
