In a war of rights, who wins?
There is much debate about the legality of adding captions to media that you do not own. In the past to add captions you had to download a video (illegally), make a copy (a derivative), add captions, and then upload the video again. Because you were making a copy of the video many believe this violates copyright law. So, if there is a Deaf or hard of hearing student in your class and you want to show a video that is not captioned, what do you do? Can copyright and captioning coexist?
